Programmable Oscillators provide precise frequency generation and control for a wide range of applications, including communications, test equipment, computer peripherals, and automotive control systems. The ASGTX-P-1 is a programmable oscillator that takes in a digital code and outputs a stable, low distortion output frequency. The ASGTX-P-1 is designed for exceptional accuracy, stability, and wide frequency range up to 50 MHz with mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) of 1 million hours in harsh industrial environments.The working principle of the ASGTX-P-1 is based on phase-locked loop (PLL) principles. The oscillator consists of an input frequency (F_input), a phase-frequency detector, a voltage control oscillator, two dividers, and a phase/voltage loop filter. Through interaction with certain parameters, the oscillator has the ability to produce a stable output frequency (F_output), which is a multiple of the input frequency. The F_output is determined by the value programmed into the ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) chip.The F_input is a reference frequency that is generated externally and is typically provided by a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO). This reference frequency is provided to the phase-frequency detector and to one of the dividers. The other divider is programmed to divide the original reference frequency by the desired multiple. The phase-frequency detector then compares the two frequencies, and based on the comparison output, it adjusts the voltage-control oscillator to the desired output frequency within a few Hz.The output frequency is then filtered by the phase/voltage loop filter and the output signal is given as a sine wave with very low phase noise and harmonic content.The ASGTX-P-1 is used in a range of applications, such as in telecommunications and radio transmission systems, sensor networks, automotive, audiovisual, military, and industrial communication. In the telecommunications industry, the ASGTX-P-1 is used in base stations and mobile switching centers for accurately generating and controlling the radio frequency signal (RF signal). It is also used in radio transmission systems for providing a stable frequency signal for radio clock synchronization. In automotive and induction heating equipment, the ASGTX-P-1 is used for providing a stable frequency signal for controlling the switching speed of power electronic circuits, such as frequency inverters and DC motor speed controllers. It is also used in medical instruments, such as multi-frequency ultrasound systems, for frequency control.
