Programmable oscillators, such as the ASSFLP1-R-D08, offer an efficient, reliable, feature-packed solution for those requiring the flexibility of frequency or phase setting. The circuitry of a programmable oscillator allows for the setting of frequency or phase by the user, in order to meet the requirements of the specific application. The oscillators are usually thermally compensated, meaning that relatively small temperature changes will not affect their performance.

The ASSFLP1-R-D08 utilizes surface-mount technology configuration achieved by photolithography, which provides a much greater level of accuracy and speed of configuration than conventional methods. This oscillator has a frequency range extisable from 869MHz to 914MHz, and a temperature range encompassing -40 to 105 degrees Celsius.

The powered output of the ASSFLP1-R-D08 is twofold. Firstly, it produces outputs of either 10 to 20mV, or 50 to 55mV, depending on the speed of the application. And secondly, the oscillator output ranges from +10dBm to -40dBm, accommodating a wide variety of electrical systems.

At its heart, the ASSFLP1-R-D08 comprises a liquid crystal resonator (LCR) and an external frequency control device. The LCR comprises two substrates with liquid crystal encompassing them. It vibrates as an acoustic wave device between the two which is then tuned by changing the distance between the substrates.

The frequency control device of the ASSFLP1-R-D08programmable oscillator consists of a number of components, including a signal conditioning circuit, a frequency controlling circuit, a switching circuit, and a signal amplifier. The signal conditioning circuit identifies the frequency-controlling circuit of the oscillator, while the signal amplifier amplifies the frequency of the oscillator at the output stage.

The signal conditioning circuit utilizes a series of capacitors and resistors and a feedback resistor to create a bridge circuit which acts as a tuning circuit to control the frequency of the oscillator. Additionally, the circuit includes a zero-resistance resistor, which is connected to the reference voltage for comparison and acts to adjust the frequency accordingly.

The frequency control circuit of the ASSFLP1-R-D08 establishes a reference voltage from the signal conditioning circuit and compares it with the oscillator\'s output frequency to tune the oscillator. Additionally, the circuit also functions as a temperature compensation block.

The switching circuit is responsible for simultaneously enabling or disabling multiple input or output states by providing a control signal for the signal conditioning circuit, the frequency-controlling circuit, and the signal amplifier.
