A programmable oscillator is essentially a device that accepts numeric or digital inputs, then accurately produces an output voltage, current or waveform at a specific and adjustable frequency range.The ASSVP1-R-D16 is a programmable oscillator, operating as a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with a voltage-controlled frequency range. The device is made up of on-board oscillator, control elements and sensing circuit which interact with external electrical signals for proper operation.The ASSVP1-R-D16 can be used in a wide range of applications, from providing a source of adjustable frequency sine wave oscillations for frequency modulation, data pattern generation or even voltage-controlled frequency synthesis. It is ideal for precision tasks such as generating test waveforms in the laboratory, or embedded in a control system. It features a high-performance timing system with automatic gain control circuit and adjustable switching thresholds, allowing for excellent noise immunity and high stability.The device\'s functionality is provided by the use of two kinds of oscillators, an LC type and a CMOS type, which allow for flexibility in the application of frequency control voltage ranges. The LC type oscillator offers low noise and wide frequency range, while the CMOS type offers an adjustable output frequency range. Also, depending on the specific application, the output frequency range can be adjusted from 1kHz to 1MHz.The working principle of the device is relatively simple. It works by using an optically-coupled component to convert the voltage-controlled frequency input into an output signal. The optical coupling ensures that the output signal does not interfere with the direct signal with which it is interfacing and is highly reliable.  The signal output is also adjustable in terms of the output frequency. The potentiometer on the board can be used to tweak the frequency knob, allowing users to adjust the signal output in terms of the desired frequency range.
