Application Field

The AT25320B-SSHL-T is particularly suitable for applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets due to its low power consumption and high speed processing capabilities. The device offers two different program/erase capabilities, one for erase/program within a page and one for an erase/program across the full memory space.

Working Principle

The AT25320B-SSHL-T operates on the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and I2C protocol, which both use a 3-wire bus for data transfer and operate at very high speeds. The SPI bus is used for faster data transference speeds and I2C for slower transfer speeds on long bus lengths. Both protocols support multiple device configurations and can be used with the 512Kbit and 1024Kbit memory versions.

The device supports three different programming operations, including Byte/Page, Block, and Sector. Byte/Page programming is used to write/read a single byte or up to one page of data. Block programming is used to write/read any number of consecutive bytes within a block. Sector programming is used to write/read data within any sector of the memory device.

In addition to programming operations, the AT25320B-SSHL-T also supports erase operations. The device is equipped with an erase algorithm which can erase the entire memory device, or just a specific block, sector, or page within the memory. The erase command is used to initiate the erase operation, and the erase status command can be used to check on the progress of the erase operation. The erase operation takes approximately 10 ms per page.

The AT25320B-SSHL-T also features an enhanced software data protection feature. This feature is used to protect program data from accidental erasure or modification. The protection can be applied to any page, sector, or block within the memory device.
