Working Principle:
The AT27BV512-15TC memory chip is an advanced 5-volt/3.3-volt 4096K-word nonvolatile (EEPROM 22V) byte-wide static RAM and a byte-wide EPROM. Its architecture consists of 4096K-word and 72-bit wide SRAM memory cells, plus a 2048-word EPROM array. It is designed to operate asynchronously with 3.3V and 5V power supplies. The device core is built around a 16-bit microprocessor core and provides a variety of read and write operation modes: random access, cyclic access, burst read and write cycles, page read/write cycles and dual-mode programming.

The EPROM memory array on the AT27BV512-15TC can be programmed with a serial programming algorithm. This algorithm automatically erases and programs the EPROM in a single programming cycle, eliminating the need for separate erase and programming cycles. This single cycle programmability provides fast programming of the EPROM, making it suitable for applications with large data content such as internet appliances, digital audio players and other consumer electronic products.

The AT27BV512-15TC memory also supports read and write operations up to 20MHz. This high frequency operation is useful when processing simple instructions, such as copying data from one location to another. Furthermore, the device also integrates a built-in watchdog timer (WDT).The WDT feature is vital in ensuring that a device is working as expected and can be used to detect any unexpected conditions, allowing the system to reset itself to a non-critical state if necessary.
