The AT27C080-90PI is a non-volatile static random access memory (SRAM), is a semiconductor device that provides high performance in data storage and retrieval applications. It is designed to store up to 8 megabytes (MB) of data in a single integrated circuit (IC) package. The memory is organized into two separate address spaces, each addressing 8 megabytes of data. These two separate addresses are referred to as "P0" and "P1". Each address space is able to store up to 4K words of data.

The AT27C080-90PI includes an internal static RAM array, a static RAM controller, and two distinct address spaces, referred to as P0 and P1. The static RAM array contains the main memory, which is organized into 4 bits per word. Each bit is referred to as a cell. The static RAM controller manages the transfer of data between the main memory and the address space P0 and P1. In general, the controller will access data from one address space and store it in the other.

The AT27C080-90PI SRAM works in two modes: "First-Level Access Mode" and "Second-Level Access Mode". In First-Level Access Mode, an instruction is issued to the SRAM controller. The controller then interprets the instruction and decides which address space it needs to access. The instruction may require accessing one or both of the address spaces. Once the instruction is interpreted, the controller then accesses the appropriate address space and stores the data in the 800 cells per address space.
