ATA6870-DK10

Evaluation and Demonstration boards and kits provide a reliable and cost-effective way to evaluate different components and their applicability in designs. The ATA6870-DK10 is one such user-programmable demo board, which helps to evaluate and demonstrate a range of design capabilities for the ATA6870 microcontroller. It contains different peripherals and components including an 1Mbit SPI-Flash memory, a true-ISP connector to the ATA6870 device, an integrated power supply and a USB/RS232 data bridge for communication between the MCU and the host or PC.

The ATA6870-DK10 uses an 8 bit ATA6870 with a maximum clock speed of 16MHz and 72bytes of SRAM. It has 28pins and 2user definable LEDs. Pins are broken into 4I/O ports and 6 special function pins. The I/O ports allow for fast read and write operations with high accuracy. The special function pins enable PWM, A/D conversion, timers and other features. Each pin is programmable to different functions.

The ATA6870-DK10 has an in-system programming interface (ISP) for downloading the code. The ISP connector to the board is proprietary and acts as an interface between the board and the MCU. The ISP connector allows for programming of the device from a PC. The board also contains a bootloader which enables the startup and execution of the code.

The ATA6870-DK10 board has two onboard power supplies. The first power supply is a regulated 3.3V supply, which can be used to power up the board’s peripherals. The second power supply is a ±5V supply, used to power the MCU. The board has an EMI shield which reductions emissions from the device. It also has an on-board battery which can be used for backup power.

The USB/RS232 data bridge in the board helps in communication between the ATA6870-DK10 device and the host PC. The bridge has an RS232 interface which allows for serial communication between the MCU and the PC. The USB interface allows data to be transferred between the PC and the board in a wide variety of protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, etc.

The ATA6870-DK10 demonstrates and evaluates a range of design capabilities. It has an integrated programming interface which enables easy programming of the MCU.
