The ATCA-08-471M-V is an inductor metal strip type chip component, small in size but capable of delivering high levels of inductance. The chip is made up of layers of non-magnetic electronic substrates such as alumina and boron nitride, layers of dielectric passivation material, and then layers of silver-plated copper foil. The layers are then bonded together to create the chip structure. This structure is then wrapped with an insulated alumina sleeve and potted with epoxy resin to make the component waterproof.

The inductance range of the ATCA-08-471M-V ranges from 8 to 10µH. Its self-resonant frequency is 16MHz – 20MHz, and its AC impedance over a frequency range of 10kHz to 500kHz is 100ohm – 200ohm. It is rated at 100mA current inrush and 40mA hold current with the power inrush and steady current dissipating in less than 0.75 watts.

As the current flows through the pathways, the magnetic field exerts a force on the current and has a gradational effect on the current’s movement. This is known as inductance.
