The ATF16V8B-10PI is an embedded Programmable Logic Device (PLD) designed to offer a cost-effective and flexible solution to digital system design. By combining RAM- based programmable logic, high-speed registers and built-in testability features, the ATF16V8B-10PI can be implemented into a wide range of applications.Subsystems such as real-time clocks and reset logic can be integrated into a single chip, significantly reducing board space. The high data rate for the ATF16V8B-10PI makes it suitable for use in applications such as disk controllers, actual and simulated microprocessors, pulse- width modulators and fixed logic solutions.What makes the ATF16V8B-10PI so attractive is its ability to be integrated into a wide range of applications. This is achieved through its ability to provide a wide range of control functions, and address decoders, multiplexers and data pipeline expansion. Consequently, the device can be used in both digital and analog processing solutions.The ATF16V8B-10PI has two groups of logic gates. The first group consists of 8 configurable macrocells (CLBs) which are used to implement sequential, combinational and state machines. The second group consists of four non-configurable macrocells (NCBs) which are used to implement fixed logic solutions such as address decoders and multiplexers.The ATF16V8B-10PI utilizes the patented DTSM-3 (Data Transfer and Storage Machine) architecture for its logic operations. The DTSM-3 architecture allows the device to shift data from one CLB (macrocell) to another quickly and efficiently. As a result, the device is capable of handling much higher data rates than other PLDs, which reduces design time and significantly reduces system costs.In addition to its configurable architecture, the ATF16V8B-10PI also features high-speed registers and built-in testability features. These features allow for fast operations, as well as for data monitoring and analysis capabilities, making it suitable for use in fully automated systems.The ATF16V8B-10PI makes use of a standard 22-pin PLCC (Plastic Leadless Chip Carrier) package, allowing a greater number of applications to be implemented into a single chip. It also has an industry-standard JTAG interface, allowing the system to be easily tested and debugged. In addition, the ATF16V8B-10PI is pin-compatible with the ATPM series of PLDs, allowing it to be replaced with a different device should the application require it.Overall, the ATF16V8B-10PI is a powerful and cost-effective embedded PLD which can be used for a wide range of applications.
