AXG206144A Application Field and Working PrincipleThe AXG206144A, commonly known as the AXG Series, is a high-performance mezzanine connector designed for use in edge-mounted arrays and boards. The connector can be found in a wide range of applications, from data-center server racks and data-acquisition enclosures to computing, communications, storage, networking, and automotive applications.AXG Series connectors are ideal for applications where space and weight are a factor. The relatively small connector size and low profile are two of the main reasons the AXG Series has become popular with electronics manufacturers. The connector is rated for operation up to 10A and its robust construction makes it highly resistant to physical and environmental stressors.The AXG Series consists of two rows of pin contacts arranged in a staggered, 30° angled pitch array. Three different-sized pins are used for each contact row in order to ensure reliable mating. The outer, larger-sized pins are used to maintain the stability of the connector when it is mated to a printed-circuit board. The inner two rows of pins are used to carry the electrical signal.The connector also contains an integrated strain relief on either side of the pins. This feature helps to reduce the amount of physical stress on the connector during mating and unmating processes. The pins are terminated with dedicated electrical contacts – known as “board locks” – which help to provide additional electrical contact force and reduce electrical resistance.The AXG Series of connectors is also well suited for high-density applications, due to its compact size and space flexibility. The 30° angled pin array enables a much tighter pitch than standard vertical and horizontal pitch configurations, and the pin contacts are designed to provide maximum system performance. The connectors are also designed to withstand high vibration and shock, making them an ideal choice for rugged applications.The AXG Series is also designed to meet many international safety and standards regulations. The connector is RoHS and UL-certified, and is designed to comply with MIL-STD-810F and 1275D.
