BD5233FVE-TR is a Voltage Supervisors by ROHM Semiconductor. It is part of the PMIC – Supervisors range of products created to help stabilize voltages in circuit boards. The main function of the device is to protect the circuit boards from overvoltages and low voltages. It also allows for better control of the circuit board’s voltage regulation.
The BD5233FVE-TR is a single-channel 3.2 to 5.5V voltage supervisor with internal Voltage Reference and open drain output. The working principle of the BD5233FVE-TR can be seen in the diagram below. The device is composed of an internal voltage regulator, an analog comparator, and an open drain pulldown FET. The voltage regulator creates an internal voltage reference. This reference is compared to the input voltage. The comparator signal is then fed to the FET’s gate. If the input voltage is below the programmed threshold voltage, the FET will be turned on and the output of the device will be pulled to ground. If the input voltage is greater than the programmed threshold voltage, the FET will be turned off, and the output will remain high. This allows the device to be used as a voltage supervisor, which monitors the input voltage and turns on or off the output based on whether or not the input voltage is within the programmed threshold range.
