The BD7957FS-E2 is a monolithic IC\'s with low-voltage drive capabilities and low-voltage microstepping control dedicated to small and medium-sized AGV, AC servo motor, and stepping motor control. It is classified in Power Management IC (PMIC) – Motor Drivers, Controllers.
The BD7957FS-E2 can operate from a single 2.2 V to 5.5 V power supply, and it contains all signal processing circuits, and output buffer for driving a step motor (ag round type) to allow for easy integration of motors into small electronic apparatus.
It has a built-in microstepping driver circuit that can handle from full stepping to one-hundredth microstepping operation. The current level is programmable with 12 bit resolution and easy motor operation switching is possible with its various setting relays.
In addition, since its input steps can be connected to 3 types of switch circuit (open collector, pull-up resistor, positive input buffer), it can be connected directly to a host as a main control.
The BD7957FS-E2 features a high-accuracy reference temperature compensation circuit, a slight vibration elimination circuit at full speed, and an oscillation elimination circuit. All these features make it the ideal device for small and medium trimmer motor control.
Its application is wide, from highly accurate printers, copiers, and high precision industrial machines, such as mini surgical robots, to small and medium equipment for home use as well as for agriculture or medical care. The working principle of the BD7957FS-E2 is based on the use of a low-voltage, magnetic field-assisted microstepping motor. When a current is supplied to the stator winding, the motor shaft rotates, enabling smooth and accurate operation under minimal power consumption. The switching transistor provides current to the stator winding and includes circuit protection for overcurrent protection, as well as an auto-select full-speed or microstepping mode. The BD7957FS-E2 also includes an oscillation prevention circuit that eliminates unwanted vibrations.
In addition, an integrated reference voltage controlled oscillator helps to achieve excellent torque and speed stability, as does its flexible frequency and duty cycle setting capabilities. An external capacitor is required for the oscillator circuit, but an optional internal setting circuit is also provided.
Furthermore, overcurrent and over-temperature protection are provided by a protective circuit. The temperature detection circuit provides temperature compensation which helps protect against excessive temperature rise of the motor drive, while the power-loss detection circuit helps to detect power slippage or accidental shut down.
The BD7957FS-E2 is versatile and capable of precise motor control, making it an ideal solution for small and medium motor control applications.
