BD8226EFV-E2 is a product of ROHM’s semiconductor that is designed for controlling motor drivers, controllers and other peripheral applications. It is a low power, high efficiency control IC with a built in voltage regulator and a dedicated regulator to stabilize the output voltage. The device offers a wide operating temperature range from -40 to +125°C and a wide operating voltage range from 2.7V to 18V. The device also has on-board protection against over current, over temperature, over voltage and ESD protection. The device offers a fast transient response with a typical rise/fall time of less than 100ns.

The BD8226EFV-E2 has two main control pins; the EN pin which is a control input pin used to enable/disable the power supply and the FB pin which is a feedback pin used to provide feedback from the output voltage.

The device has two operating modes; Linear Regulation Mode and Pulse-width Modulation (PWM) Mode. In Linear Regulation Mode, the output voltage is controlled by changing the value of the potentiometer connected to the EN pin. When the EN pin is high, the voltage is regulated by increasing the internal current and the output voltage is adjusted accordingly. In PWM Mode, the output voltage is controlled by changing the duty cycle of the pulses applied to the EN pin. The output voltage is adjusted according to the duty cycle of the pulses.

It is suitable for applications that require high current output and can be used for motor drivers or controllers with up to 24V of motor voltage.
