Working Principle
The BD99954GW-E2 is a highly integrated, multi-functional PMIC that is optimized for high-end devices. The heart of the device is a simple pulse-width modulation (PWM)-based charging controller, which utilizes synchronous rectification, giving the device a low output resistance. This multi-function device features a highly accurate analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which provides four programmable input channels providing additional flexibility, as well as protection features to prevent over-discharge and overheating. The device also features a highly efficient Simple Switcher, which is a synchronous buck converter that uses synchronous rectification to further improve efficiency. Its constant frequency PWM conversion allows the potential use of low-cost, small-size external components, while still providing excellent thermal performance. The output voltage of the device can be programmed within the range from 0 to 4.35V, allowing it to support a wide array of charging protocols. The device also supports a feature known as End-of-Charge Detection, which protects against overcharging, by monitoring the end voltage of the charging cycle.
