The BD9B300MUV-EVK-101 from Diodes Incorporated is an evaluation board used to demonstrate the functionality of the BD9B300MUV synchronous rectified buck converter. This isolated DC/DC converter is designed to provide up to 30W of power in presence of the 2:1 wide input voltage range, and its operating efficiency is up to 91%. The isolation voltage of the evaluation board is specified at 1,500VDC. This evaluation board requires an external digital isolator for transferring the control signals from the off-board controller to the board for controlling all of the parameters.

The working principle of the BD9B300MUV-EVK-101 evaluation board is based on the synchronous rectified buck topology, which combines low-RdsOn eFET drivers and synchronous rectifiers for improved efficiency and easy implementation of the Industry\'s latest high frequency switching. This topology also enables the device to achieve up to 91% efficiency. The board is designed to drive an external power Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) on the primary side, which allows the device to achieve high levels of power density and efficiency.

The BD9B300MUV-EVK-101 evaluation board uses a Controller Area Network Serial Communication (CANS) link for programmatic control, and is compatible with a vast portfolio of Diodes’ controllers and digital isolators. In order to power up the board, the BD9B300MUV-EVK-101 requires an external input supply of 38V to 45V. This can be provided either through an external circuit or by using the on-board jumper. The two external feedback resistors are used to adjust the output regulation set point of the board, while the on-board soft-start capacitor is used for controlling the inrush current of the power converter.
