Its main function is to regulate the output voltage at 48 VDC and provide protection against short-circuits, over-voltages, over-loads and over-temperatures.The second integrated circuit is the rectifier which converts the unregulated voltage input, in the range of 9-36 VDC, into DC current for driving the switching regulator.The BEI15-050-Q48P-C is designed with an over-current protection to protect against short-circuits. When such occurrence is detected, the IC switches off and waits for a reset before continuing its operation, and the output voltage is maintained for up to 500ms after the load removal before the circuit shuts down.The BEI15-050-Q48P-C is also provided with an over-voltage protection circuit which is activated if the output voltage exceeds the nominal output by 10%.The DC-DC converter also features an SMD type device for thermal protection. This SMD device thermally monitors and protects the power switch by disconnecting it from the input power in the event of over-temperature.The BEI15-050-Q48P-C is suitable for a wide range of applications, in particular Industrial test and burn-in, automotive distributed power supply, computer input power supply, and instrumentation.Overall, the BEI15-050-Q48P-C is an ideal device for applications needing a wide input range and high output power.
