The BF650-20B application field and working principle of cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) & UV lamps make them an excellent choice for applications requiring a high-output light source in a small package. This type of lamp provides a very uniform output, yet is capable of handling comparatively high wattage. As a result, it is often used in many commercial, industrial, and residential lighting applications.
On the construction side, a CCFL & UV lamp consists of two electrodes in an evacuated glass tube that are connected together with an electrical contact on the base. The electrodes form an electrostatic or ionic field, in which electrons can travel along the inside of the filament. This process causes the lamp to illuminate, emitting the characteristic ultraviolet light.
In operation, the lamp emits two distinct types of light. The first is cathode ultraviolet radiation, a type of ultraviolet light that is generally not visible to the human eye. This portion of the light is used for a range of applications, including germicidal disinfection, and scientific and industrial uses. The second is visible light, which is generated by the residual thermal energy of the electrons passing through the tube. This component of the light is usually referred to as phosphor-converted emission.
Furthermore, the BF650-20B has a particularly useful output, as its emission is highly stable over time and is resistant to temperature variations. It is the ideal source for applications requiring sustained light output and long life. The wavelength of the emitted light can also be finely tuned during the manufacturing process, allowing the user to select a lamp that suits their application needs.
The BF650-20B also features several key safety features, as well. These include an automatic shut off feature that immediately stops the lamp when any abnormal heat buildup is detected, and an overcurrent protection that automatically shuts off the lamp if the recommended maximum current is exceeded. Additionally, the lamp is designed to experience a gentle, gradual decrease in light output as it nears the end of its life.
Overall, the BF650-20B cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) & UV lamps offer an ideal combination of powerful and uniform light emission, a long lifespan, and safety measures in a small package. These features make them an ideal choice for applications that require sustained, high-output lighting.
