Fuseholders

Fuseholders are designed to safely and easily mount and install electrical fuses. In particular, the BK/1A4534-06 fuseholder (hereafter referred to as “BK”) is an UL recognized component designed to wire up and manage high-amperage applications.

Application Field

The BK is suitable for rated current of up to 60A 250VAC/125VDC, making it a great option for home and industrial electrical wiring. Its ability to handle higher amperage makes it ideal for current-intensive tasks like running powerful machinery, lamps, engine starters, and air conditioners. This type of fuseholder also works for wiring up backup systems like uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs).

Working Principle

The BK fuseholder consists of a brass base mounted to a plastic bracket. The bracket can be connected to either a panel or junction box. A crimp cap and wiring terminal is attached to the base, allowing the connecting of an electrical power cable. The cable can either be soldered or fastened with a set screw. The fuseholder is then mounted to the bracket via a plastic box with screws, and an insulating cover is placed over the box. When connected to the power source, the fuseholder is ready to be wired up.

Once the fuseholder is installed, it works by allowing electricity to flow from the power source to the loads connected to the fuse. If a fault is detected in the electrical wiring, the fuse will be cut off, disconnecting the loads from the power source. This prevents equipment damage due to overloading. The fuse can be removed from the fuseholder and replaced with a new one if needed.
