Fuses are safety engineering components used to protect electrical and electronic systems and components from damages caused by overcurrent or overload. A built-in resistor reduces voltage drop and provides additional protection from thermal runaways or overvoltage conditions.
The working principle of BK1/C519-3-R is relatively simple. When the allocated current is exceeded, the heat generated melts the bi-metal strip. This will in turn trip the silver-plated contact which makes the electric current interrupted. An arc that is generated when the current trips the fuse is not sufficient to close the contact again, and thus the current will remain interrupted even after the breaker has reset or the overload has been remedied.
Generally, when overload occurs and the operating current is greater than the rated current of the fuse, the bi-metal strip is heated and deformed due to the heat. This deformation will cause the strip to become longer and contact the back of last contact end and separate the two contact parts which will stop the current flow through the circuit. Therefore it protects the devices by interrupting the circuit, as the excess current that exceeds the rated current is insufficient to make the silver-plated contact to close again.
BK1/C519-3-R is a reliable fuse for most applications in industrial and household fields. It is typically used in motor loads, plasma cutting machines, welding equipment, induction heating machines and other similar applications.
