Motion Sensors - IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) are a type of sensors used to measure rotational and linear acceleration from a variety of locations. One of the most popular types of IMUs used today is the BMX055. 

The BMX055 is a 9-axis motion processor combining three separate sensors into one small package: a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis magnetometer. The 3-axis gyroscope measures the rate of angular velocity around each axis in degrees per second (°/s) and the 3-axis accelerometer measures the acceleration or movement along each axis in meters per second squared (m/s2). The 3-axis magnetometer measures the magnetic field vector along each axis in units of microTeslas (µT).

The BMX055 also has a number of special features including an on-board temperature sensor and integrated digital motion processor (DMP).
