BPM500YPV application field and working principle

A BPM500YPV is a member of the Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) family, otherwise known as Varistors, MOVs or overvoltage protection devices. They are made of zinc oxide and act as voltage clamping devices when exposed to overvoltage spikes or transient impulses, due to their nonlinearity which reduces voltage overshoots to a very low level.
