The BQ24313DSGR is a type of integrating power management integrated circuit (PMIC) used for battery management. The product features integrated battery cell charger, system power path management, overvoltage protection and integrated series DC/DC buck converter based on product demands. It is most suitable for applications such as 3C/consumer/industrial product, Tablet, Notebook and Battery Powered Bot devices.
The BQ24313DSGR is equipped with two integrated internal Power Paths and a two-cell Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery charge management sub-system. The charging control sub-system contains three cascaded charger control loops: a pre-charge loop, fast charge loop, and charge current loop, which can be used in applications where a two-cell Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery pack is used. The output power path sub-system provides a high-efficiency, high-current N-channel,charge/discharge capable buck converter, which supports both system diode-loss free power path management and cell equalization. The system also provides overvoltage protection and reverse current protection.
The general working principle of the BQ24313DSGR is that it controls the switch of the power path via the integrated series N-channel MOSFET to shunt the charge/discharge path for battery management, system load, and charging. Its main components consist of buck converter, BATFET and charger IC, voltage detection IC and over-voltage protection IC. When switching from charging mode to load mode, the charger IC works with the buck converter to detect the voltage of the battery and control the BATFET to block the output of the buck converter, thus cutting off the connection between the charging path and the load path.
The buck converter in the BQ24313DSGR generates a voltage between 0.7V to 7V output and is highly adjustable to fit different types of system requirements. In order to provide maximum efficiency, the switching frequency of the BQ24313DSGR PWM is dynamically adjusted according to the output voltage. In addition, the over-voltage protection circuit can identify and set the maximum protection voltage of the system. This can prevent the device from being damaged by voltage exceeding the safe voltage range.
The BQ24313DSGR can be used in device power management applications ranging from wearable devices and smart phones to tablets, laptops and other battery powered devices, that require a two-cell Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery pack.
