The BQ2944L0DRBT device is an integrated PMIC specifically designed for single cell Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery packs to support applications such as notebook personal computers, ultra-portable devices, and other battery-powered equipment. It provides system-level protection from overcharging, over-voltage, over-current, and temperature. It also provides programmability, interface circuitry, and diagnostic information.
The device incorporates a programmable charging architecture with a pulse-width modulated (PWM) constant-current/constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging profile. The built-in battery temperature monitoring feature provides an interface to an external thermistor which can be used for temperature monitoring. It also provides automatic cell balancer for multi-cell pack battery management.
The working principle of the BQ2944L0DRBT device is based on its integrated MOSFET. The MOSFET is connected between the battery and a charging regulator. When the battery is connected, the MOSFET turns on and supplies current from the battery to the regulator to charge the battery.
