To meet this demand, Texas Instruments has developed a line of highly reliable battery management products, such as the BQ7694001DBT.The BQ7694001DBT is part of TI\'s Battery Management (BQ769x) family and is designed to be a low-cost, general-purpose battery monitoring IC with integrated coulomb counting, a Coulomb Totaliser, a Programmable State Machine and an embedded μC. The BQ7694001DBT provides accurate voltage and current measurements by monitoring both the voltage of a single battery cell (measurement range: 0 to 5.5V) and the overall current of the battery pack (measurement range: -1 to 1A). The IC also has a Coulomb Counter with extremely high resolution (1mV) and can be used to measure both charge and discharge accumulations to record the net charge transferred through a battery over a given time period. This can be used to detect when a battery pack is in need of recharging, and to provide a more accurate picture of a given battery\'s health.The BQ7694001DBT also features a Programmable State Machine that can be used to set up multiple thresholds and states based on the measured parameters, such as voltage, current, and temperature. Whenever one of the monitored parameters exceeds the predefined threshold values, an interrupt is triggered and an alert is generated to inform the user about the situation.
