<h3>BRT13H Application Field and Working Principle</h3><p>Optoisolators - Triac, SCR Output devices, such as the BRT13H, are used to isolate the control signal from the main controlled circuit, typically a power circuit, while still providing the necessary power to properly enable and control the circuit. This device is a high-quality four-terminal logic-level transistor output optoisolator with an internal photoresistor optically coupled to an integrated photo-transistor. It is CSA certified as suitable for use in information Technology equipment with a 105°C rating.</p><h4>Applications</h4><p>The BRT13H is typically used to provide an isolated switch drive for low-power, low-voltage on-off switching applications such as over-current protection, emergency light switching, industrial process control, power management, intelligent lighting control systems, as well as in telecommunications, consumer, and automotive applications.</p><h4>Working Principle</h4><p>The BRT13H works by transferring a current, in the form of a light emitting diode that is optically coupled to the phototransistor, to the phototransistor. This phototransistor then controls the switching of the output signal by illumination from the LED light. When the LED is not illuminated, the output is switched off so that no current is transferred to the controlled circuit. When the LED is illuminated, a current transfer occurs within the optoisolator in order to activate the phototransistor which, in turn, switches on the controlled circuit (and in this case, the power circuit) to allow the flow of current.</p><p>The BRT13H is a hassle-free solution when it comes to isolated switch drive applications. It offers a wide supply range, high polarization voltage, low saturation voltage, and outstanding dv/dt and di/dt capability as well as low power consumption, due to its integrated design.
