It is used to protect circuitry from excessively high voltages in many applications, including the telecommunications industry.Working Principle The working of the BZX84B10LT1G Zener diode is based on the principle that when a reverse bias voltage is applied to it, a large electric field is generated. This field, in turn, causes free electrons and holes to be swept across the junction rapidly and the depletion region becomes thinner. As a result, the resistance of the junction decreases, and current begins to flow through the device in the reverse direction. When the reverse bias voltage increases and exceeds the Zener voltage (Vz), the Zener diode breaks down. This breakdown results in increased current flow, producing a larger electric field which stabilizes the reverse bias voltage to the Zener voltage.
