Application Field

A rotary switch employed in lighting control application, C3P0112N-A is designed for 120V/277V 60Hz, with 2-3 positions, D-shaped shaft. It is UL, CSA listed, and intended for use with LED, CFL and fluorescent type of loads. It is mainly composed of multiple poles and throws configurations with different spec into each one. It completely supports forward, reverse toggle action and quick connect terminals.

Working Principle

It works in two major steps. First, It has a stationary contact which is connected to a terminal and this is known as the "pole" of the switch. The moving contact is known as the "throw" of the switch. When the switch is actuated, the throw of the switch is rotated, moving sequentially from one pole to the next. In order to make a connection, the throw is moved so that the contacts connected to the "throw" contacts with the contacts connected to the "pole". The second step is the assembly portion. After the contacts are connected and the mechanism is rotated, a new circuit will be established.

C3P0112N-A is typically used to switch grounded or ungrounded circuits and it is designed with a large center off position or position that interrupts the flow of current. Its compact shape and different configurations makes it easy to use and become one of the most widely used switches for electrical applications.
