The C4ODCA features a versatile range of input and output configurations, with up to 8 universal inputs and 4 universal outputs, each providing pulse-in, pulse-out, step, step pulse-in, and pulse-out/pulse-in capability. Inputs can accept both inputs from Hall-effect sensors and switches as well as standard 4-20mA external signals.

The device also offers an amount of flexibility in configuration; allowing multiple I/O points to be used in a variety of configurations and combinations. The C4ODCA is designed for reliability with its integral 4-wire relay outputs, and a circuit breaker protection for overload of all the I/O channels. It is also protected from over-voltage and short-circuit with an in-built fuse.

The device features an intuitive graphical programming software which allows users to configure the C4ODCA with ease. With simple drag and drop programming, the programmable software allows users to rapidly design a customised application for almost any control and monitoring application. The C4ODCA can be connected to computers, PLCs and HMI platforms via either USB, RS232/RS485 or CANbus depending on the user requirement.

The C4ODCA has a wide range of applications, from simple home automation and industrial process control to more sophisticated monitoring, control and data acquisition such as motor control, temperature sensing, position sensing and many other. In industrial machinery, such as food processing or packaging, C4ODCA is often used to control AC/DC motors or electro-pneumatic actuation, as well as data acquisition and remote monitoring.

In terms of working principle, the C4ODCA is an input/output (I/O) relay device that operates on a binary logic. When an external signal is sent to the C4ODCA, it activates the relay outputs and either closes or opens the connected load. For example, when a sensor is used with the C4ODCA, when the sensor passes an object, the C4ODCA will activate the corresponding output, causing a connected load to start running.

The C4ODCA can save application configuration and its status in its internal memory, and can be used for data logging and monitoring. Alarms and status can be monitored remotely.
