DC-DC converters are electrical circuits that convert a voltage from one level to another, and are divided into two broad categories, Step Up (Boost) and Step Down (Buck). In the case of the CA02P, it is a Step Down converter, capable of handling a wide range of DC input voltages and quickly converting it to a desired output (Uin to Uout).

Application Field

The CA02P converter has a wide range of applications, including for supplying Uout voltage, 1) efficiently supplying devices that require a low voltage (such as smart phones, semiconductor devices, etc) with power from a higher voltage source, and 2) powering direct current in automotive, medical, industrial, and other fields.

Working Principle

The CA02P utilizes an innovative circuit design implemented with a proprietary EnviroSurf, a switching power supply integrated circuit (SPI IC) that drives the main MOSFET, allowing power conversion with a wide DC voltage i/p range and a high efficiency up to 93%.

It is designed to operate from a wide 4.5 to 48V DC input range, cut-off signal provides under-voltage lockout (UVLO) to prevent damage to the converter, and is capable of delivering up to 12A continuous current to the output at a fixed output voltage (Uout), all while maintaining a high efficiency of operation.

The CA02P also features a variety of protections, such as internal over-temperature shut off, over-voltage protection, and short-circuit protection, among others, shielding the device from harm and optimizing its performance.
