Working Principle

The CAT1640YI-30-GT3 is a single-channel voltage supervisor that monitors an input voltage and generates an output to indicate whether or not it has detected an over- or under-voltage condition. It contains an internal circuit which compares the input voltage with an externally-set trip threshold. If the input voltage reaches the programmed trip voltage, the chip will assert the reset output. This output is active low or open-drain, depending on the external components connected to the reset pin.
