The CAT1832L is a low-power supervisor IC for system level power management that acts as an intelligent monitoring and control purpose device. It is available in a 3 to 5.5-V supply voltage range and can unify several functions into one IC package. This IC can serve as a system level supervisor IC for monitoring power-supply rails, avoiding over-voltages, under voltage, and supply can detect the reset assertion, and de-assertion desired by the system.

Working Principle

The CAT1832L is designed to monitor the input power supply voltage (VIN) and, depending on the function, respond when one of the three user-programmable voltage thresholds is exceeded. A reset/power-down pulse will be issued, an output is asserted, or an interrupt can be generated and the output toggled.

By internal comparators and hysteresis circuit, the CAT1832L compares the external power supply voltage (VIN) with voltage reference (VREF) level at all times and controls the output status. When VIN is greater than the VREF + hystersis voltage (VHYS), the output is in low-level status. Otherwise, the output is in high-level status.

Applications

The CAT1832L supervisor IC can unify several functions into one IC package and serve as all-in-one system power solution.
