Optical Sensors, such as Photoelectric and Industrial, are used to detect physical events, such as the presence of objects, changes in light intensity, or the movement of an object. A popular type of Sensor in this category is the CD18100NSC. This is an advanced optical Sensor with a digital Optical Processor that is able to detect a wide range of light sources, and is especially effective in low light environments.The CD18100NSC is designed to be used in different applications, including industrial automation, security, and medical equipment, amongst others. It is a very reliable Sensor, and offers accurate detection with a low False Positive ratio. The Sensor has two active elements – a pair of Photodiodes separated by a distance, and a Light Condux – the Sensor uses these elements to measure the amount of light passing through the Sensor’s aperture.The Sensor’s light Condux is designed to concentrate light intensity from any light source that is within the Sensor’s range. Once the Sensor detects a light signal it transmits the data to a controller that processes the data in relation to the variable light sources. Depending on the application, the controller either triggers an output or sends a signal to a control system.The CD18100NSC’s light Condux uses a geometric principle called the photopic law – this law states that the amount of light that is measurable depends on the distance between the two Photodiodes on the Sensor. This means that the Sensor can accurately detect and measure the amount of light that passes through the aperture, regardless of the size, color, brightness, and direction of the light source.The Sensor’s Digital Optical Processor also enhances its ability to detect light sources. It uses a combination of algorithms to process the signal detected by the Sensor and generate a meaningful output – the output can then be used to trigger an action or signal a control system.The CD18100NSC is a highly accurate Sensor, and so it has found a wide range of applications in industrial, medical, military, and residential locations. It is also very easy to install and use, and requires minimal maintenance. It is a cost-effective way of ensuring that all environments have consistent and reliable light intensity monitoring.
