CD4026BNSR is a type of IC (Integrated Circuit) widely used in both counter and divier applications. This IC is designed to be used on low voltage and low power supply systems and as such is often used in designs which require a counter or divider circuit that is dependable and easy to implement.The CD4026BNSR is a decade counter/divider consisting of a cascade of flip-flops with the state of each flip-flop being determined by the previous flip-flop in the chain. The output of each flip-flop is a separate output pin (Q0, Q1, Q2, etc.. ) and the presence of an active HIGH reset pin R allows for full control over the outputs.The basic operation of the CD4026BNSR is fairly straightforward. A clock signal is used to trigger the input of the first flip-flop which then proceeds to toggle the value of its output and the toggling of subsequent flip-flops as well. Depending on the state of the Input D, D0, D1 , D2 , D3, D4, and D5 pins, the pattern of toggling can be changed.When the Input D (Data) is set to a logic LOW, all the outputs from the flip-flops will toggle on the rising edge of each clock pulse. When the Input D is set to a logic HIGH, then the outputs of the flip-flops will toggle on the falling edge of each clock pulse.Additionally, the CD4026BNSR includes two preset inputs, P0 and P1, which when set to a logic HIGH can be used to force a predetermined state to the flip-flops as well as a Carry Out pin which allows the CD4026BNSR to communicate with other systems.The CD4026BNSR is a versatile IC which is used in a wide range of applications, such as digital clocks, communications, motor control, and general digital logic. It is especially useful in designs which require a reliable counting or dividing function, particularly when used in a Low Voltage – Low Power situation.
