The CD4502BME4 is a quadruple 2-input NOR/OR logic gate device manufactured by Texas Instruments. This type of device are commonly used for digital logic applications, and this type has been particularly designed with high speed TTL integrated circuits components. The CD4502BME4 is particularly effective when being used in buffering, data capture, configuration and sound applications.
The CD4502BME4 includes four independent 2-input NOR or 2-input OR logic gates. Each input connection has a Schmitt trigger structure. Schmitt triggers are employed in order to provide hysterisis in the input circuit, which provides a more robust behavior when dealing with noise and gives much improved response when compared to the linear kind of input threshold sensitivity. Hysterisis is an overall feature of the Gate which means it can detect large signals with high accuracy by looking at the threshold levels.
The CD4502BME4 offers an excellent immunity to noise and has a minimum power consumption. Internally it works with a voltage ranging from 4.5V to 5.5V and it has an excellent output current sourcing and sinking capability.
In its basic form the CD4502BME4 is made of 4 2-input NOR/OR logic gates arranged in the same way. All the gates have been designed with a minimum power consumption while still maintaining high speed operations, meaning it is ideally suited for logic operations.
Each gate within the device has an independent output pin, making convenient to use the same gate multiple times when constructing a digital logic device. Each output carries its corresponding signal to the other components of the device. This provides an easy routing of the signal from the input of the gate to its output.
The output of the CD4502BME4 is a voltage signal that is fed through two series connected Schmitt triggers to obtain the desired level. The input signal of the gate is taken from a Schmitt trigger connected in between the two series triggers, allowing for the logic gates to correctly interpret the input signal.
