CD74HC192PWG4 is a synchronous 4-bit binary up/down counter with load from the Texas Instruments semiconductor family. It is a member of the High-Speed CMOS logic family, which is designed to increase system performance and reduce the power consumption of systems. This device is capable of counting up to 16 with output dedicated pins for 0 to 15, making it suitable for a plethora of applications ranging from automation systems, security systems, and more.It operates in static mode and has two on-chip counting states: up/down. It is available in various package types such as SOIC, TSSOP, and also in SOP packages. The speed grades of the device range from 1 MHz to 20 MHz. It has five dedicated pins for power supply (Vcc1 and Vcc2), enabling and disabling of clock input (CLK), counting direction (DIR) and the asynchronous reset pin (RST). Working PrincipleThe working principle of the CD74HC192PWG4 is based on CMOS circuitry technology. It has four master-slave flip-flops which are triggered from the positive edge of the clock. When the enable input clock signal is high, the counter will enable the clock input and the counter will then start counting up or down based on the logic level of the DIR input. When the count reaches 15, the logic on the Q0 output will return to a high level and the counter will start counting from 0 again.The device also has two power supply pins (Vcc1 and Vcc2), which must be connected for proper operation. The power pins can respectively be used for Vcc1 = 5V and Vcc2 = 3.3V. The supply voltage of the device ranges from 2V to 6V, whereas the voltage between Vcc1 and Vcc2 should not exceed 6.5V. The operating temperature of the device should also be kept between -55°C and 125°C.The CD74HC192PWG4 provides many advantages including low power consumption.
