CD74HCT238M96 is a high-speed bipolar CMOS logic IC. It belongs to the Logic - Signal Switches, Multiplexers, Decoders classification and is mainly used in digital control circuits. The CD74HCT238M96 is a low-voltage octal 3-to-8 line decoder/demultiplexer. It is designed to provide high performance and high noise immunity with 3.3V levels of TTL-,DTL-compatible data sources. The decoder/demultiplexer has four address inputs (A0–A3), an active LOW enable input (G), and eight mutually exclusive active LOW outputs (Y0–Y7). When the enable input is LOW, the selected Y output will be LOW and all other Y outputs will be HIGH. When the enable input is HIGH, all Y output will be HIGH, no matter which address inputs are selected. A HIGH on any of the address inputs will turn the corresponding output LOW when the enable input is LOW. When two or more address inputs are HIGH and the enable input is LOW, two or more outputs will be LOW.The CD74HCT238M96 allows full decoding of binary or BCD address inputs without external decoding logic, which makes it easier and more convenient to use. The device also uses CMOS technology and has a wide operating range of -55°C to +125°C, which allows it to be used in a wide range of automotive and industrial applications. Its working principle is very simple. The four address inputs A0-A3 are binary encoded and the selection between the outputs Y0-Y7 is done through the Enable input G. When G is LOW, the selected output is LOW, while all other outputs are HIGH. When G is HIGH, all outputs are HIGH, regardless of the selected address inputs. This allows the device to be used as a multiplexer or a decoder/demultiplexer. The CD74HCT238M96 is designed for 3.3V levels and it is a high-speed device, providing faster switching speeds than the regular 74HCT series.
