Fixed Inductors

Fixed inductors are electronic components whose function is to "oppose" a variation of current in a given circuit, whether direct or alternating. Inductors usually consist of an inductive coil wound on some kind of magnetic core, although there are also inductors with printed circuit boards, which do not contain a magnetic core. Working principle

An inductor is an electric component in which, the passage of current through it produces a magnetic field. This electromagnetic field opposes any variation of the current in such a way that any interruption or reduction of its current produces a surge in voltage whose value is proportionate to the incipient current and to the speed of the change. Similarly, any weakening or interruption of the voltage rigorously produces a sudden increase in the current.

The EMF (electromotive force) or counter-electromotive force produced is expressed as: EMF = - L (dI / dT), where L is the inductance, which depends on the inductance coefficient and the calculated area of the coil (L = μm.A), m is the number of turns of the coil, μ is the magnetic coefficient or permeability of the material and I is the current which passes through it.
