Switching mode power supplies (SMPS) can be made much smaller and lighter than conventional linear power supplies, making them ideal for use in a wide range of applications. The CDBWM8213-M-1 is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit for use with PWM buck converters. The working principle of the CDBWM8213-M-1 is based on the use of a Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) buck converter. An incoming DC signal is first converted to a square waveform by a PWM controller. When the switch is turned on, the current flow resumes and the output voltage increases. The duty cycle or “on time” of the switch controls the output voltage.
