CHL8325A-16CRT application fields and working principles
CHL8325A-16CRT belongs to PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Controllers. It is an analog current mode synchronous step-down switcher with a single-phase dual-phase interleaving. It is specifically designed for mobile phone and consumer applications with advanced real time load line tracking, sequencing and programmable soft-start functions. The CHL8325A-16CRT can improve the performance of switched mode power supplies by providing advanced control. It supports a wide range of operating input voltage of 2.75 V to 5.5 V and its output voltage range is 0.6V to 2.75 V, and it also supports up to 2 A of continuous output current. The device integrates a full set of analog current mode control. It also provides independent phase control with dynamic switching frequency alignment at No Load and various loads.

Working Principle
CHL8325A-16CRT operates in current mode and synchronous rectification control. It has cycle-by-cycle current limit, current average limit and peak current limit. The power device is integrated and the high and low side FETs are connected in parallel to get an overall compliance with the high-side FET and the low-side FET. The single-phase dual-phase interleaving has improved the dynamic response performance and reduced the output voltage high frequency ripple. It has an adaptive slope compensation, which enables the fast instantaneous load dynamic response. The device can sense the drain current to achieve the pulse by pulse current limiting. It also has a programmable soft-start, which initializes the output voltage slowly and smoothly to reduce the inrush current and system power dissipation.
In addition, CHL8325A-16CRT support online Real Time Load Line Tracking(RLLT) control, which can tune output voltage without changing the inductor value, to improve the light load efficiency. RLLT eliminate the need of additional algorithm to compensate the DC bias. It also has a programmable glide control, which regulates the output voltage transient and keeps the output voltage ripple within 1%.
Finally, CHL8325A-16CRT can provide burst and pulse-skipping mode operation to reduce the system power consumption and acoustical noise. It also provide various safety protections, such as VOUT and VDD under voltage protection, over temperature protection and fault protection.
