The voltage across the inductor continues to rise at the same rate until it reaches the breakdown voltage of the Schottky diode where it reverses and starts to decrease.
When the voltage decreases to zero point, the energy stored in the inductor is transferred to the output capacitor Cout, and the switch S is turned OFF. The output voltage is then regulated by the voltage feedback, error amplification, error feedback and current sensing control circuitry.
