The Concept of Controlled Initial Adjustment (CIA2) has been around for awhile. It was first introduced in the 90s to provide better protection to the motors and motorsized circuits with higher power requirements. This was done by installing a calibrated fuse in the circuits. This fuse was then adjusted to accommodate the appropriate amount of current through the motor or motorized circuit. This would allow for the safe handling of the load, while also preventing overload conditions.
