Working Principle

A CM200DU-24NFH device is an IGBT module which contains one series of two insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). These two IGBTs are independent of each other, but when the positive voltage is applied, both of the IGBTs will operate and the load will conduct. When both IGBTs are activated and the base current is equal to zero, the IGBTs reach a balance which allows them to remain open.

During operation, one of the IGBTs serves as a latch and the other one acts as a switch. When the positive voltage is applied, the IGBT which is connected to the RC network will be activated first followed by the IGBT connected to the base current. Therefore, when the base current turns to zero, the IGBT connected to theRC network will be activated continuously, thus turning on the load. When the voltage is removed the IGBT connected to the base current will be deactivated, thus switching off the load.

Since the IGBT modules provide high efficiency and high accuracy control of low voltage applications, they can improve the performance of the system. The steady-state control of the device is provided by the base current control and the load of the device is protected by a RC network which is connected to the input voltage line.
