Single Conductor Cables (Hook-Up Wire)
CMC-0553-1-9 Application Field and Working Principle
The CMC-0553-1-9 single conductor cable, commonly known as “hook-up wire”, is a power and control cable that is designed for harsh environment applications where a higher temperature rating is required.
The power and control cable is manufactured with stranded PFA insulated conductors and an overall lead-free silicone rubber jacket. The PFA insulation gives this product the additional advantage of being highly resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and oils, which makes it an ideal choice for applications in environments with heat, moisture, or volatile chemicals.
The CMC-0553-1-9 cable is designed to provide a reliable power and control signal in a wide variety of industrial applications. It is used in demanding applications such as in chemical, petrochemical, paper, manufacturing, oil and gas, medical, and power distribution. The flexibility of the cable and its resistance to oils and chemicals makes it one of the most common cables used in harsh environments.
The CMC-0553-1-9 cable is designed to operate at temperatures up to 600°F (316°C). This makes it a great choice for applications where the other cables can be damaged due to extreme temperatures. The insulated conductors are rated to operate from 40A to 200A and depending on the application can replace other wiring systems such as Air-Tite, NEMA, AC, and SJ cords.
The insulated conductors of the CMC-0553-1-9 cable are made of stranded tinned copper to ensure excellent conductivity, flexibility, and durability. The silicone rubber jacket adds further protection and insulation to the cable, giving it a higher temperature rated to 600°F. This ensures that the cable is protected from extreme temperatures and other harsh environmental conditions.
The CMC-0553-1-9 cable is designed with an ether-based lead-free insulation system to ensure it meets all applicable safety standards. The insulation system is rated UL/CSA/NEC Class C&. For even greater electrical protection, the cable also features a tinned copper outer conductor for enhanced EMI/RFI shielding.
The overall construction of the CMC-0553-1-9 cable makes it eminently suitable for use in a wide variety of applications. Its robust construction ensures a reliable signal transmission, making it the perfect choice for power and control applications in harsh environments. Additionally, due to its lead-free insulation system, the cable will meet all current safety standards.
