Common Mode Chokes
CME2425-1 application field and working principle
Common mode chokes are three-terminal capacitors commonly used in radio frequency (RF) circuits, and they are mainly used to filter interference signals. Common mode chokes are generally applicable in many power systems such as industrial control system, power line communication system and etc. CME2425-1 products, which is an RF common mode choke, are used mostly in the frequency range from 6MHz to 100MHz.
A capacitor consists of two metallic plates of a certain distance, and in order to form a RF common mode choke, a coil structure is added between the two metallic plates. From an electrical perspective, when an alternating current passes through the coil, a voltage will be induced in the metallic plate of the capacitor by the changing magnetic field, which can generate an electric field and a capacitor can transfer the voltage to other wires as the inductor becomes saturated. This is the working principle of an RF common mode choke.
CME2425-1 common mode chokes are applicable for automotive equipment, switched power supplies, automotive electronic sound equipment, etc. It has internal shielding construction, which can efficiently filter various common mode noise from 0.5-100MHz, including common frequency bandwidth, peak noise at about 60MHz and harmonics etc. Additionally, it can protect the circuit from damages from strong 4KV ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and conducts 3A currents from frequencies up to 30MHz.
CME2425-1 RF common mode chokes are also embedded into system design, such as when power lines cross each other, those lines can be connected with RF common mode chokes to filter out any possible interference signal or disturbance voltage. The installation should be precise to fit the design needs. At any situation, CME2425-1 series RF common mode chokes have the strong capability to eliminate the interferences with other circuits and reduce EMI emissions significantly.
