Through Hole Resistors
Through Hole Resistors, or THRs, are components which can be found in a variety of applications, from temperature measurements to voltage limitations and current flow. In particular, CMF071M5000JLEA is a THR designed to provide high performance protection from extremes of temperature and other elements.

Working Principle
The CMF071M5000JLEA THR works on the principle of electrical resistance, whereby electrons flow through a circuit composed of resistors, capacitors, and inductors. When the current flow changes, the resistance of the THRs is controlled by varying the voltage applied across them. As a result, the CMF071M5000JLEA THR provides protection against overvoltage, overload, and stress conditions. In addition, it also provides excellent temperature accuracy.
For a detailed explanation of the working principle, consider the following sequence of events. Firstly, the resistance of the THRs is varied by changing the voltage across them. This change in electrical resistance causes the current flow to vary. As this happens, the temperature of the resistors increases, subsequently causing the temperature differential between the resistors and the surrounding environment to become more significant. In response, the CMF071M5000JLEA THR increases or decreases the resistance level to achieve the desired temperature control.
Once the desired temperature is achieved, the current flow decreases and the resistance of the THRs returns to its original value. This process is repeated as required, ensuring that the THRs are able to protect the circuit of which they are a part from both overvoltage and the effects of extreme temperature.
