Working Principle

The primary purpose of a CR11-52-8.00A-R01CV-V circuit breaker is to safely and quickly interrupt fault currents. The device can be triggered in one of three ways – through thermal generated heat, excess current, or by electric voltage. A thermal-magnetic trip system situated within the breaker is what enforces the interruption when either of these conditions is met.

The thermal-magnetic trip system is composed of two main sections. The thermal part is a bimetal strip that is composed of two metals with different thermal expansion characteristics.
