CR4170-30 is a current transducer designed for measuring, monitoring and communicating of direct or alternating current according to DIN EN 60721-2. It is capable to measure up to 1 – 180A current (depending on transformer ratio) and provides a 4 – 20mA output proportional to the measured value. This device is suitable for use in measuring and monitoring of three-phase or single-phase lines and requires special requirements for insulation and grounding protection.

The CR4170-30 is constructed with a UL approved encapsulated core and bobbin assembly, which is enclosed in a die-cast aluminum housing. This provides durability and long term stability. The transducer works within a temperature range of -40°C – +85°C (-40°F – +185°F). It is equipped with a single-stage isolated current transfer device, allowing it to measure current signals up to 1A without additional hardware. Additionally, there are three medium current standard outputs available which range from 0.4 – 2A, 3 – 15A and 12 – 80A respectively.

The device operates according to the principle of electromagnetic induction. When a current is passed through a conductor, it generates a magnetic field.
