The CS4397-KSZR is an innovative special-purpose data acquisition product. It is designed for a variety of applications, including audio, communications, and control systems. This product combines two of the most important data acquisition functions, Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC) and Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC).

This highly integrated device is a low power, monolithic CMOS device. It is the industry’s first chip with simultaneous sampling of 16 audio channels. The device provides 24-bit resolution, with a maximum resolution of 18 bits and a maximum sample rate of 92kHz. It also provides a flexible architecture with adjustable gain, soft control digital audio playback, multi-channel digital mixers, and high slew rate digital attenuation.

The CS4397-KSZR features an array of dedicated audio inputs including digital, analog, and optical. The digital audio inputs range from AES/EBU formats like TDIF, ADAT and S/PDIF, to I2S and TDM formats. The analog inputs range from mini-jack to RCA. The digital audio outputs include AES/EBU, S/PDIF, I2S and TDM formats. The optical audio output is available in Toslink and Digital Audio Tap formats.

The device operates on a variable-clock basis and uses multi-level Master clock generator for flexibility. It enables a host board to use variable-clock synchronous audio processing. The CS4397-KSZR also features an on-board low noise power supply, eliminating the need for external power supplies. It also features an integrated low pass filter, allowing for improved linearity and digital audio playback.

Furthermore, the CS4397-KSZR offers a variety of features, such as software-controlled digital mixers, automatic gain control (AGC) and level control. It also supports dynamic range control, allowing for increased dynamic range and improved fidelity. Its advanced AGC circuitry works with the dynamic range control to keep audio levels consistent. Its user-selectable sample rate converter supports up to 30/32kHz sample rate conversion.
