The CS497024-DVZ is a high-performance 32-bit processor based on a modified Harvard architecture. It has the flexibility to address a wide range of real-time signal processing and embedded control applications, such as motor drives, imaging and signal processing for machine vision, power conditioning and other multi-loop control systems.The hardware of the CS497024-DVZ consists of an integrated 167MHz, 32bit processor core with a Memory Protection Unit (MPU) that supports different memory regions. The CS497024-DVZ also contains an interrupt controller, an I/O system, and two independent Direct Memory Access (DMA) channels. This included hardware helps to make the CS497024-DVZ one of the most suitable embedded processors for applications needing real time signal processing with features such as high performance, low power consumption, scalability and robustness.The CS497024-DVZ also integrates several peripherals that serve to aid application integration and development. These include an Ethernet media access controller (EMAC), a variety of serial communication and peripheral interfaces, multiple timers, and an Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) controller. The open-source instruction set architecture (ISA) is unique to the CS497024-DVZ, making it very powerful and flexible. The ISA consists of 32bit instructions that offer two instruction sets: a load-store architecture (LSA) and a more traditional register-based architecture (RBA). The LSA instructions are designed to simplify operations that require data read/write transfer operations, thus reducing system complexity and a reduction in the number of instructions needed to complete a task. The RBA instructions were designed to enhance the performance of computationally extreme tasks, while providing a high code density.As part of the big.LITTLE processing architecture, the CS497024-DVZ has been designed with power and efficiency in mind. This architecture allows the processor to switch between two operating modes, either high-performance or low-power modes, depending on the current application needs.
