.The CS51411EVB (evaluation board) is an off-line DC/DC and AC/DC switch-mode power supply (SMPS). It is designed to evaluate the performance of the CS51411 secondary-side link controller. The CS51411 is an off-line secondary-side power supply controller with integrated PFC, Featuring ultra-fast transient response, voltage tracking capabilities, and precision current-sense, and programmable soft-start features.
The CS51411EVB evaluation board utilizes the CS51411 device and provides the reference design board for off-line AC/DC flyback and DC/DC buck converter. The evaluation board also includes design features such as CNY17 optocoupler for isolated BIAS circuit, and synchronous rectifier control and it also provides flexibility to user, who can evaluate performance of IC, develop their own custom design and debug their design.
The CS51411EVB evaluation board operates in two modes, either AC/DC flyback or buck converter. The user can select the mode of operation by simply removing or installing jumpers at the back of the board. The evaluation board also includes a 4.7µF output filter capacitor, which provides low output ripple for at the output voltage up to 5V/5A. The board also includes a built-in bias supply circuit to power the IC device, and a two-way toggle switch to select synchronous or non-synchronous rectifier operation.
The evaluation board is designed to be powered from a 200Vac – 265Vac input voltage and the output voltage can be varied from 1.23V to 12V.The CS51411EVB features integrated MOSFETs which can handle up to 8A of output current at an ambient temperature up to 85°C.The board also includes a number of terminal blocks and connectors for easy testing. The board also includes two sets of LEDs for indicating different status of board and IC performance.
The CS51411EVB evaluation board can be used in a variety of applications such as LED lighting, power adapters, personal electronics, industrial control, and consumer and automotive electronics. The evaluation board features integrated control and monitoring, providing millisecond response times for rapid, precise power delivery, as well as improved system efficiency, reduced system cost, and industry-leading features such as lossless current sensing and integrated digital power loops.
The working principle of CS51411EVB evaluation board can be explained as follows: The output power is generated when switching is applied to the primary of the transformer at a specific switching frequency. The voltage pulses applied to the primary induce a voltage across the secondary turns which can be rectified and filtered to get desired D.C. output voltage. The control drive circuits senses the output voltage and adjusts the duty-cycles for proper regulation. This integrated flyback converter with primary-side control also provides flexibility in design and great power density with better efficiency.
The CS51411 EVB evaluation board is the perfect choice for evaluating the performance of the CS51411 integrated power supply controller. It provides the reference design for implementing off-line AC/DC flyback and DC/DC buck power supplies and also provides the flexibility to the user to develop their own custom design and debug their design.
